How to Set the Signing Order for E-Signature Documents

Learn how to set which party signs an e-signature document first, the applicant or the employee/recruiter, so the document routes in the correct order for signing and counter-signing.

Overview

When a document is sent for signature, it goes to whichever party is set as the first signer in the document template. The other party then receives it for counter-signing once the first signer completes their part.

For example:

  • If Applicant is set as the first signer, the document goes to the applicant first, then to the employee/recruiter for counter-signing.

  • If Employee is set as the first signer, the document goes to the employee/recruiter first, then to the applicant for counter-signing.

Steps to Set the Signing Order

  1. From the sidebar, click on Settings

    Click on Settings

  2. Under Templates, click on Documents

    Click on Document

  3. Locate and select the document template you want to edit

    Click on Paperwork

  4. You'll see the current signers listed in order. To change the order, click the "X" next to a signer to remove them, then re-add them in the order you want them to sign.

    Click on Edit Template…

    • Add Applicant first if you want the applicant to sign, then the employee/recruiter to counter-sign

    • Add Employee first if you want the employee/recruiter to sign, then the applicant to counter-sign

      Click on Applicant…

  5. Click Save

    Click on Save

Now the document will route to the correct party first, based on the signing order you've set!
